Accounting Officer
Job Description
Our client is seeking an Accounting Officer to join its Client Accounting team. The role will focus on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, carrying out reconciliations, assisting with VAT and corporate tax compliance, and providing support during external audits.
The successful candidate will also assist with client onboarding, budgeting, cash-flow monitoring, and the day-to-day administration of accounting records.
Location: Floriana - On-site
Responsibilities:
As an Accounting Officer, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and accounts.
Record financial transactions accurately and within required deadlines.
Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Maintain organised records of invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation.
Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve invoice discrepancies.
Assist with client onboarding, including setting up ledger accounts and initial data entry.
Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and management accounts.
Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and control.
Monitor cash flow, expenditure, and financial forecasts.
Perform bank reconciliations and ensure records are complete and accurate.
Assist with the preparation of VAT returns.
Assist with the preparation of corporate income tax returns.
Support compliance with applicable national and international financial regulations.
Assist external auditors by preparing and providing the required financial documentation.
Continue progressing towards the completion of relevant accounting qualifications.
Requirements:
Currently studying towards a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or approximately halfway through the ACCA qualification.
Around 2 years of relevant accounting experience would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of Xero would be considered an asset.
Good understanding of basic accounting principles and relevant financial regulations.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to analyse and reconcile financial information accurately.
Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
Clear and professional communication skills when dealing with clients, colleagues, and auditors.
Comfortable using accounting software and adapting to new systems and processes.
Willingness to learn and continue developing professionally.
