Head of Trading & Data

Job Description 

Our client is an international B2B service provider supporting FX and CFD brokers, delivering specialised solutions across trading, risk, data, and business operations.

Location: Hybrid – Malta

Responsibilities:

We are looking for an experienced Head of Trading & Data to oversee and coordinate two key functions: Data & Business Intelligence and Risk Management.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring that trading, risk, and business data are effectively connected to support commercial performance, operational efficiency, and informed decision-making.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and act as the bridge between Trading, Risk, Data, Technology, and Commercial teams.

  • Lead and oversee the Data & BI and Risk Management functions, including team development and performance.

  • Establish a data-driven approach to trading performance, risk management, and business decision-making.

  • Monitor and analyse trading activity, client behaviour, profitability, exposure, execution quality, and key trading KPIs.

  • Oversee risk frameworks and ensure effective identification, monitoring, and mitigation of trading and operational risks.

  • Work with Trading and Technology teams to improve execution, liquidity, trading infrastructure, and data quality.

  • Ensure management has accurate and actionable reports, dashboards, and business intelligence.

  • Identify trends, anomalies, risks, and commercial opportunities through data analysis.

  • Provide senior management with strategic recommendations based on trading, risk, and business data.

  • Drive cross-functional projects involving Trading, Risk, Data, Technology, Finance, and Operations.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience within FX/CFD, brokerage, trading, liquidity, or financial services.

  • Previous senior leadership experience across Trading, Risk, Data/BI, or a combination of these functions.

  • Strong understanding of FX/CFD trading models, execution, liquidity, exposure, and broker operations.

  • Good knowledge of A-Book, B-Book and hybrid models, trading performance, and client flow analysis.

  • Strong analytical and commercial mindset with the ability to translate data into business decisions.

  • Experience managing or overseeing multidisciplinary teams, ideally including Risk and Data/BI.

  • Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.

  • Experience with trading technologies and/or BI environments is highly desirable.
