Chief Operating Officer
Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to oversee the firm’s operational functions and support the Managing Partner in delivering its strategic objectives.
The Chief Operating Officer will lead the HR, marketing, operations and administrative functions, ensuring effective coordination, accountability and operational performance across the firm. The selected candidate will also be responsible for translating strategic decisions into practical initiatives, improving internal processes and supporting the firm’s continued growth.
Location: On-Site – Mosta
Responsibilities:
As a COO, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Provide strategic leadership across the firm’s operational and support functions.
Ensure operational activities are aligned with the firm’s objectives and expected service standards.
Oversee the day-to-day management of the HR, marketing, operations and administrative functions.
Lead, coach and develop the leaders of the firm’s support functions.
Promote accountability, ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement across teams.
Support organisational planning and ensure the firm has the appropriate resources and operational capacity.
Oversee the firm’s premises, facilities, systems and operational infrastructure.
Manage the firm’s internal committees, ensuring agreed objectives and actions are completed.
Lead firm-wide strategic initiatives and organisational change programmes.
Translate strategic decisions into clear actions and oversee their implementation.
Monitor projects, initiatives and key deliverables to ensure timely and consistent execution.
Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, systems, technology and automation.
Work with relevant teams to improve the employee and client experience.
Establish operational objectives, key results and budgets for the support functions.
Monitor performance against agreed objectives and budgets.
Provide the Partners with regular updates on operational matters, risks and progress.
Oversee internal communications to support consistency, alignment and transparency.
Ensure operational policies, procedures and internal documentation remain current and consistently applied.
Act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team on operational risks, challenges and improvement opportunities.
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Oversee the firm’s internal learning and development programme in collaboration with HR, the Managing Partner and other stakeholders.
Ensure training initiatives are aligned across the firm’s different functions and seniority levels.
Maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity and client service.
Requirements:
Previous experience working within a professional services firm.
A relevant tertiary qualification.
An MBA or another relevant postgraduate qualification would be considered an advantage.
At least five years of relevant professional experience.
Previous experience in a senior leadership or management position.
Strong leadership, coaching and people-management skills.
Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
Strong strategic planning, organisational and project-management capabilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver agreed outcomes.
Good commercial awareness and the ability to translate strategy into execution.
Ability to collaborate across departments, build consensus and maintain productive working relationships.
Highly organised, proactive and solutions-oriented.
Strong planning, coordination and follow-up skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
Experience driving organisational change, operational improvement and process optimisation.
Adaptable and committed to ongoing professional development.
Excellent written and spoken English.
