Our client is developing a digital business publication focused on the companies, industries, leaders and developments shaping Malta’s economy.

The Editor will oversee the publication’s editorial activities while contributing to its commercial development, audience growth and market presence. Working closely with the Founder, the successful candidate will help shape the publication’s editorial direction, operating processes and future offering.

The position will initially be part-time, with the possibility of developing into a larger or full-time role as the publication grows.

Location: On-site - San Gwann

Responsibilities:

As an Editor, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Manage and review the publication’s content pipeline.

• Ensure all published content is accurate, relevant, well structured and aligned with the publication’s editorial direction.

• Maintain high standards of grammar, sourcing, referencing, presentation and editorial consistency.

• Identify relevant business topics, trends and stories for coverage.

• Develop relationships with journalists, contributors, experts and business leaders.

• Support the development and sale of advertising, sponsorships and commercial partnerships.

• Build relationships with prospective advertisers, partners and relevant decision-makers.

• Ensure commercial agreements and partner commitments are delivered effectively.

• Develop new commercial packages, partnership formats and editorial opportunities.

• Maintain a suitable balance between commercial objectives and editorial integrity.

• Develop initiatives to increase readership, website traffic and brand awareness.

• Identify opportunities to improve content distribution, visibility and audience reach.

• Represent our client at meetings, events and industry engagements.

• Work closely with the Founder on the strategic and commercial development of the publication.

• Take ownership of the day-to-day running of editorial operations.

• Establish editorial processes, standards and priorities.

• Identify new editorial areas, products and revenue opportunities.

• Explore opportunities across video, podcasts, newsletters, reports, events, awards and other content formats.

• Support the future recruitment and management of journalists, contributors, content creators, videographers and other creative professionals.

Requirements:

• Experience in journalism, editing, publishing, business media or a related field.

• Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.

• Good understanding of Malta’s business environment and current affairs.

• Ability to assess the accuracy, relevance and quality of editorial content.

• Comfortable managing both editorial and commercial responsibilities.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

• Able to work independently and take ownership of daily operations.

• Commercially aware, with the ability to identify partnership and revenue opportunities.

• Organised and capable of managing multiple priorities within a developing publication.
