Senior Legal Counsel
Job Description
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to provide commercially focused legal support across the business. This role is ideal for a legal professional who enjoys working closely with senior stakeholders, negotiating complex commercial agreements, managing regulatory risk, and supporting strategic business initiatives within a fast-paced, regulated environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting the business while enabling commercial growth through practical legal advice and effective risk management.
Location: Hybrid - Malta
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Legal Counsel, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Draft, review, negotiate and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including technology, supplier, partnership, licensing and service contracts.
Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on commercial and operational matters.
Lead contract negotiations with clients, suppliers and external partners.
Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including amendments, renewals and compliance obligations.
Support business expansion projects, new market launches and strategic initiatives by identifying legal risks and proposing practical solutions.
Monitor regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions and advise the business on compliance requirements.
Work closely with Commercial, Product, Compliance, Finance and Operations teams on day-to-day legal matters.
Conduct legal risk assessments relating to new products, commercial opportunities and operational changes.
Manage relationships with external legal advisors when specialist support is required.
Assist with corporate governance matters, including corporate structure changes and general corporate administration.
Develop and improve internal legal templates, policies and processes to increase efficiency and consistency.
Support and mentor junior members of the legal function where appropriate.
Promote legal awareness and a proactive risk management culture across the organisation.
Assist with additional legal and corporate projects as required.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years' experience in a commercial legal role.
Law degree from a recognised university.
Previous experience within the iGaming sector or another highly regulated industry.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance legal risk against business objectives.
Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritise multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence working across all levels of a business.
Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of legal matters independently.
Additional languages will be considered an advantage.
