Job Description
Our client is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join their growing legal function. The successful candidate will act as a key legal advisor to senior stakeholders across the business, supporting a broad range of legal, regulatory, compliance, and data protection matters across multiple jurisdictions. The role will play an important part in protecting the company’s interests while supporting international growth and operational compliance.
Location: Hybrid - Mosta
Responsibilities:
As a Lawyer, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Support the wider legal function across commercial legal matters, regulatory compliance, and data protection responsibilities
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial and corporate agreements
• Advise management on commercial, contractual, IT, software, data protection, and corporate legal matters
• Provide legal support on business expansion and international operations
• Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws and regulations across jurisdictions
• Review and advise on employment agreements, consultancy agreements, NDAs, supplier agreements, software licensing agreements, managed services agreements, and data protection agreements
• Assist with corporate governance and company secretarial related matters
• Coordinate with external legal advisors and foreign counsel where required
• Support on disputes, litigation matters, and regulatory queries
• Work closely with internal stakeholders across various departments to provide practical legal guidance
• Assist with legal filings and documentation related to corporate entities
• Support ESG and insurance related legal matters where applicable
Requirements:
• Fully qualified lawyer with approximately 2 to 3 years of post qualification experience gained either within a commercial law firm or in-house environment
• Strong exposure to commercial contracts and corporate legal matters
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Business minded with a practical and solutions driven approach
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team
• High attention to detail and strong sense of ownership
• Fluency in English is required, additional European languages would be considered an asset
• Previous exposure to the payments or fintech industry would be considered advantageous
