Our client is seeking a Senior Tax Team Lead to join their team. This role involves leading a small tax team, managing client relationships, overseeing tax compliance matters, and contributing to the growth of the tax function.

Location: On-site - Mosta

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Tax Team Lead, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Manage and support a team of tax professionals

• Liaise with clients and tax authorities on a daily basis

• Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and submission of tax returns and related filings

• Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members

• Monitor local and international tax developments and advise clients accordingly

• Ensure clients remain compliant with Maltese income tax legislation

• Support business development initiatives and contribute to the growth of the tax service line

• Collaborate with marketing teams on seminars, webinars, and promotional initiatives

• Conduct research to identify new service opportunities and improve existing offerings

Requirements:

• Fully qualified accountant through ACCA or a Master’s degree in Accountancy

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role

• Strong knowledge of Maltese income tax legislation and tax regimes, including:

  • Tax payment and refund mechanisms

  • Fiscal unity

  • Capital gains tax

  • Notional interest deduction

  • Double taxation relief

• Good understanding of international tax matters, including:

  • ATAD

  • OECD Treaties

  • Interest and Royalties Directive

  • Parent Subsidiary Directive

• Strong leadership, organisational, and planning skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
