Senior Tax Team Lead
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Tax Team Lead to join their team. This role involves leading a small tax team, managing client relationships, overseeing tax compliance matters, and contributing to the growth of the tax function.
Location: On-site - Mosta
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Tax Team Lead, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Manage and support a team of tax professionals
Liaise with clients and tax authorities on a daily basis
Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and submission of tax returns and related filings
Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members
Monitor local and international tax developments and advise clients accordingly
Ensure clients remain compliant with Maltese income tax legislation
Support business development initiatives and contribute to the growth of the tax service line
Collaborate with marketing teams on seminars, webinars, and promotional initiatives
Conduct research to identify new service opportunities and improve existing offerings
Requirements:
Fully qualified accountant through ACCA or a Master’s degree in Accountancy
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
Strong knowledge of Maltese income tax legislation and tax regimes, including:
Tax payment and refund mechanisms
Fiscal unity
Capital gains tax
Notional interest deduction
Double taxation relief
Good understanding of international tax matters, including:
ATAD
OECD Treaties
Interest and Royalties Directive
Parent Subsidiary Directive
Strong leadership, organisational, and planning skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
