Client Accountant
Job Description
Our client is a Malta based corporate advisory firm offering accounting, corporate, and fiduciary services across a range of industries.
For this role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate financial records, handling tax and reporting obligations, and supporting the overall client relationship while maintaining compliance with local regulations.
Location: Hybrid - Malta (2 days remote, 3 days from office after probation)
Responsibilities:
As a Client Accountant, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Managing a portfolio of clients and maintaining strong client relationships
Maintaining accurate accounting records in line with IFRS or local standards
Preparing and submitting VAT returns, tax returns, and management accounts
Coordinating audits and liaising with external auditors
Managing own workload, deadlines, and reporting timelines
Supporting ad hoc financial reporting and accounting tasks
Liaising with Maltese authorities when required
Reviewing work of junior team members
Supporting onboarding of new clients
Identifying improvements in processes and systems
Identifying opportunities for additional services
Requirements:
ACCA qualified or equivalent
Minimum 2 years experience in client accounting, ideally within a CSP environment
Strong knowledge of IFRS or equivalent accounting standards
Good understanding of Maltese VAT and tax legislation
Experience preparing management accounts and supporting audits
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
High attention to detail and integrity
Strong digital skills
Experience with Xero or similar systems is an advantage
Fluency in English
