Financial Controller (Maternity Cover)

Role Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join the team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. Based in the Douglas or Mala office, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic planning through accurate and timely reporting.
Location: On site - Malta or Isle of Man
Responsibilities:
As a Financial Controller, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Oversee all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger, and revenue recognition
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Maintain internal financial controls and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Monitor and manage cash flow, budgets, and financial forecasting
- Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and corporate service providers
- Manage a small finance team and handle collections
- Maintain banking relationships
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decisions
- Oversee financial systems and implement improvements where needed
- Ensure a smooth transition and knowledge handover before and after the maternity cover period
Requirements:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or at least 5 years’ experience in a senior finance or financial controller role.
- Experience in digital marketing, media, or online sectors is considered an asset
- Solid understanding of accounting standards, financial reporting, and tax regulations
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
