Application Developer

Job Description 

Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Application Developer to take full technical ownership of their iOS and Android applications across a portfolio of 18 brands. This role will serve as the main liaison between internal stakeholders and external mobile development partners, ensuring the delivery of high-performing, secure, and business-aligned mobile products.

Key Objectives

  • Own the technical lifecycle of all mobile apps, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and aligned with broader business goals.
  • Act as the main point of contact between internal teams and third-party mobile development partners to ensure smooth, efficient delivery.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into clear development plans for external contributors.
  • Maintain high standards of reliability and security through regular audits, diagnostics, and incident management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop mobile features that support wider product goals.
  • Evaluate and propose emerging technologies to improve the mobile development process and app ecosystem.
  • Support a culture of innovation and cross-functional alignment.

    Responsibilities:

    As an Application Developer, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee app design, development, deployment, and monitoring for both Android and iOS platforms.
  • Manage external mobile development vendors to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues and security risks.
  • Conduct regular audits and performance tuning of existing apps.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance applications using emerging technologies, including automation and AI tools.
  • Contribute to broader technical projects where mobile development intersects with other areas of the business.

    Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in mobile development (iOS and Android).
  • Proven track record of publishing apps to the App Store and Google Play.
  • Strong proficiency in Swift, Kotlin, and cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter.
  • Solid understanding of mobile app security, performance optimisation, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience managing third-party development partners.
  • Working knowledge of additional programming languages, such as JavaScript or Python.

    Nice to have
  • Experience building mobile features that integrate with web platforms or structured data.
  • Exposure to marketing or product teams on data-focused initiatives.
  • Interest or experience in using AI tools to enhance mobile workflows or product features.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or automated testing frameworks.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments on complex, multi-team projects.
  • Experience designing user interfaces and developing features from wireframes to implementation.
  • Strong debugging and performance tuning capabilities.
