Chief Financial Officer
Job Description
Our client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the executive leadership team. This individual will hold overall responsibility for financial strategy, governance, and performance, ensuring the company’s long-term stability and growth. Acting as the financial steward of the organisation, the CFO will provide forward-looking guidance, optimise capital structures, and manage risk across an international and fast-paced digital environment.
Location: Hybrid - Gzira
Responsibilities:
As a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Define and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s vision and long-term objectives, while overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling to ensure data-driven decision making.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and capital structure, leading banking, investor, and fundraising activities to maintain financial resilience and growth capacity.
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of all financial reporting, in full compliance with IFRS and Maltese regulations.
- Establish and monitor a robust risk management framework to identify and mitigate financial, operational, and regulatory risks, including currency and market exposures.
- Lead financial assessments of acquisitions, mergers, and partnerships, providing expert insight on valuation and integration strategies.
- Build and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO, executive leadership team, the Board, and department heads to ensure financial alignment across the organisation.
- Represent the company externally with auditors, regulators, and legal advisors, strengthening trust and ensuring compliance.
Requirements:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA) or MBA required.
- 10+ years of progressive financial experience, with at least several years in a senior leadership role such as Finance Director or Head of Finance.
- Experience operating in multi-jurisdictional environments, ideally within digital, technology, or iGaming sectors.
- Proven track record in fundraising, strategic planning and M&A.
- Strong command of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
- Advanced skills in financial analysis, modelling, and forecasting.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and BI tools.
- Knowledge of international taxation, transfer pricing, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
- Commercially minded with strategic vision.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
